Juli is in the tradition of saxophonists who are also great vocalists; Cleanhead Vincent, Eddie Harris, and Louis Jordan. Juli studied at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music with David Hazeltine and Berkley Fudge, and cut her teeth playing in Milwaukee and Chicago with the great bebop organist Melvin Rhyne.
